Killer Mike has released the music video for his song “Down By Law” from the rapper’s latest project, Michael. This feels like as good a time as any, considering Michael was recently nominated for three Grammy awards: Best Rap Album, Best Rap Song, and Best Rap Performance (the last two were for “Scientists & Engineers”). I actually reviewed Michael, and it’s probably the best rap album of the year.
I mention all of this because the visuals for “Down By Law” feel like a celebration. The video, directed by Mike Allen, shows Killer Mike representing Atlanta, hanging out with his fans, and chilling with his wife; it’s a beautiful thing. It’s been a journey. And it’s so Atlanta.
