Notable Tracks: Ice Spice, Latto, The Weeknd, & Young Thug

Back at it again with another Notable Tracks post. This is where I pick three tracks I’ve been listening to lately and share my thoughts. I was off the internet last week but now I’m back. Let’s get to it.

Latto & Ice Spice – “GYATT”

Like I said in the intro, I was off last week and while it was cool being away from the internet, I was mad I didn’t get to write about Latto & Ice Spice’s new song “GYATT.” A WWE-inspired music video that features Latto and Ice Spice… as professional wrestlers? Am I dreaming? Yeah, I’ll probably forget about the actual song in five minutes, but salute to the ladies for the visuals.

The Weeknd – “I Can’t Wait To Get There”

Putting a song by The Weeknd here might seem weird. I’m not the biggest fan of him, and this track “I Can’t Wait To Get There” is off his (maybe) final album that dropped this past January. But while going through my album backlog, I finally got to Hurry Up Tomorrow. I didn’t like most of it, but I really did like “I Can’t Wait To Get There.” A lot. (It’s now on the Official nappyafro Playlist.)

Sidenote: I’ve been meaning to watch Hurry Up Tomorrow (the movie) but I’m still salty after watching The Idol.

Young Thug – “OD”

I’ll end this post with a Young Thug song because he’s the first rapper to go platinum off leaked jail phone calls (For better or for worse). Crazy enough, “OD” might be the only solo Young Thug song I really like (also on the Official nappyafro Playlist). The first time I heard it was seeing Jay Electronica on the internet playing it in his car (weird, right?). Either way, hold your head up Jeffery. Or not.
