Grammy Winners + “Swagga Like Us” Performance [Video]

slugrammy

Wow, I can’t believe I watched the whole Grammy Awards (Does it count if you work on the computer AND sorta watch when you hear something good?). One thing I sure the Hip-Hop world will be talking about is the performance of “Swagga Like Us” by T.I., Wayne, Jay-Z, & Kanye (The song also won “Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group”). No matter what you feelings about these rappers, it’s hard to deny that these four are the premier MC’s in the game. King Jerm said a VERY pregnant M.I.A. went the hardest and stole the show (He might be right). I also thought it was weird that this awards show had each rappers performing twice each: Jay-Z with Coldplay, Kanye with Estelle, T.I. with Justin Timberlake, & Lil’ Wayne with Robin Thicke. Not saying that was a problem; just an observation.

Saule Wright told me that Wayne was a lock for “Album of the Year”. Even though Weezy didn’t when that award, he did pick up 4 Grammy’s (Including “Rap Album Of The Year”). Ne-Yo, Alicia Keys, Mary J. Blige, & Al Green also picked up awards. Nas…well, you really didn’t expect them to give him an award for “N.I.G.G.E.R. (The Slave & The Master)” did you?

  1. The Grammy’s is more like a popular contest then who actually had the best songs and albums. I felt that Raphael Saadiq was robbed because of what happened to Jennifer Hudson. Tha Carter III was the worst rap album on that list, but unsuprisngly won.

About the performance, haha at Kanye lookin’ like Matheson off Pineapple Express. M.I.A. did her thing, pregnaut and all.

  2. Aight Kanye needs to do something with that hair. He lookin like Eddie Murphy in Coming to America with that Jerry Curl thing going on

      1. You sure its a houston thing? Cuz I’m here in San Antonio(only 3 hours away from Houston) and I know alot of people from Houston and I’ve yet to see any of that Dougie. I mean I know the song My Dougie was a huge hit in Texas but that shit Kanye has looks more like a throwback to the 80s. You know…JUST LET YOUR SOUL GLOW

      2. I don’t think that style is a Houston thing, I have family in the H-Town and they ain’t rocking that hairstyle. I haven’t seen many people from houston rock that. Now I remember the fades Houston and New Orleans was rocking, I had a fade too but not the way they had theirs

  3. g-yea ne-yo my boi but……trey songz cant help but wait is my shit. mmmm that would keep me up at night decideing that one.

  4. I found M.I.A to be atrocious. I don’t think she should’ve even preformed with the baby, and even so, with that weird azz polka dot bikini, and the tights. WTF? Although, I liked the preformance by the “Rap Pack”

  5. Kanye’s hair style is retarded, and it woulda been nice to see them take the award on stage. The performance was sick tho MIA def gets props for performing on her due date. I still think Paper Trail deserved Best rap. The “Rap Pack” name and theme makes me wanna hear more from these four…they could do a hot EP or something.

    1. T.I. over Nas??? I mean Paper Trail was alright but Untitled is still considered a classic in my eyes.

To quote many on this site “GTFOH!!!”

      1. Aside from Breathe, NIGGER, Hero and Fried Chicken I can’t really get into Untitled, especially to even consider it as a classic. Nas prolly came with more depth but pretty much every song on Paper Trail is a banger and I still bump it to this day.

        1. Paper Trail has more vibes, but Untitled lyrically shits on it. The whole album has the perfect concept, unlike Paper Trail where T.I. tries to get commercial to sell more albums.

P.S. Their hasn’t been an instant classic in over ten years.

          1. Agreed with Jerm…Nas got robbed for Best Rap Album. Actually, it’s a toss-up for me between Nas and T.I.; i liked both of their albums, and they both got 4.5’s…I’m kind of leaning towards Nas, though I bump T.I.’s album more.

  6. I’m feelin all of those albums Jerm, but they aren’t even classic to this day. If that’s the case, there would be around 200+ classic hip hop albums.
