50 Cent’s “Death Blow”

50cent-deathblow

“When I throw the motherfuckin’ death blow… they don’t die right there. You expect them to die right there and they die six months later.” – 50 Cent from Gomez Bros. interview.

I’ll be the first one to admit it. I honestly thought Rick Ross had overcome 50 Cent’s full-scale assault to end his career that had claimed the lives of a few rappers in the past. Ricky had a #1 album with Deeper Than Rap, is definitely one of the hardest working men in Hip-Hop as of late (How many music videos has this guy put out this year?), and even got voted the #5 “Hottest MC’s In The Game” by MTV.

But then I heard the audio from the other day when 50 called in to the Gomez Brothers’ show on Shade45 and he made reference to his “death blow” (Around the 10:47 mark in the interview).

And then I thought about it: Did 50 Cent’s stream of baby momma interviews porno activities, cartoons, & financial records take too much out of Ricky’s career? Although Deeper Than Rap did debut at #1, right now the sales sit at 380,000 copies (It definitely should have did more with what was put into it). Triple C’s album did get released last Tuesday to almost no fanfare (Except 50’s trivia jabs, Rick Ross’s promotion & poorly received clips). Hell, we even late on the review for Custom Cars & Cycles and we haven’t gotten any comments or e-mails cursing us out about it.

To keep it all in perspective though: Honestly, this could be due to the economy. Or, did 50 Cent possibly fatally cripple another rapper? You waiting on Rick Ross’ next album?

Just thinking….

  1. Well I can’t say the whole “Fro being late on the review” is because of death blow. I mean common. The Fro is slacking. We still haven’t even gotten Street Hop up and alot of albums weren’t even reviewed that were decent if not good and you’ve gotten complaints bout that. 😛 Shots fired ni99as!

    1. Et tu LP?

Naw, we definitely has had some setbacks when it come to cranking out reviews on time: financial, family, school… I won’t name names but one dude on the staff has got the swine flu (No joke). I don’t think I blamed 50’s “death blow” for that though. The Street Hop is still coming as well and the Triple C’s album. Y’all keep supporting, we’ll keep working (Even if it’s a little late. Quality not quantity people).

  2. Yea I’m not waiting on it per se but when it gets close to release time I *should* be excited. Deeper than Rap is def top 10 or 5 albums of 09 and diamonds and maybachs is amazing.

  3. Triple C’s is OK. I got it last tuesday and all the tracks sound the same. I’m not even gonna front tho, Erryday with Jeezy is a BANGER!

  4. I fuck wit Ross and Triple Cs, but I don’t want their album. I am, on the other hand, looking forward to “Teflon Don”. There is no such thing as 50 ending careers. Most of those ppl were already dying.

  5. Rick Ross? No.
    Triple C’s? Fuck no.
    In general? No.

Really, Rick Ross doesn’t impress me too much. His workload can’t really overshadow the past, even if his hustle’s on overtime right now.

  6. Yes 50 cent did lead to the demise of Rick Ross as we knew him. Anyone who watched the porno of his baby mama on BooBootv.com and then there was the photo shoot of his OTHER baby mama with 50 cent (( after the video of Tia drinking vitamin water )) You have to keep your women in check or you can’t be a “Boss”. Now honestly it was the first time that 50 cent’s raps didn’t really impact the beef but his other means of media outlets hurt bad – truth be told.

    1. You have to be the stupidest Son of Bitch alive to think that 50 saying anything about his baby mama affected him. Do you know how many niggas would put a bullet in their BM head? Do You? It’s not like he is still with the girl, some niggas don’t care about their BM’s.

And that’s the bottom line cause Stone Cold said so!

    1. *shoots you 2 birds*

      kicks you in the stomach

      hits you with the Stunner

      counts this fucker out Ref!
