Lupe Fiasco feat. Trey Songz – “Out Of My Head” [Video]

Just like yesterday, I’m forced to post another video for a song I don’t necessarily like (Do better Hip-Hop!). Lupe Fiasco releases a music video for his third single off Lasers, “Out Of My Head”. The Lupe & Trey Songz combination still seems weird to me but I guess when you let “Airplanes” & “Nothin’ On You” slip through you figures, you gotta do something right?

  1. This song is better than “Marvin’s Room”

I cosign with H20 on the end

    I’m done…

    *P-Body has left the computer*

  2. shit is generic as hell. only thing I like about this song is Trey on the hook.

At least “Show Goes On” was kinda interesting to watch, even if you hated the song (I kinda dig it)
“Word I Never Said” is one of the best song on the LP and the video was damn-near brilliant.
Not to mention its got my girl Skylar Grey. I been fuckin with her features and solo albums (Like Blood Like Honey was dope and her new album as Skylar has a more Hip-Hop driven sound that sounds dope so far from whats heard on the teaser/EP) since back when she was Holly Brook (remember that Fort Minor track? that was her)

But if they were SMART, they’d give the best song on the album (and one of the most commercially digestible); “Beautiful Lasers (2Ways)” ft MDMA, the single/video treatment and then stop pushing this mediocre product.

I’m sure Lupe has another classic like Food & Liquor in him somewhere. I’m not writing him off for one semi-hot/semi-wack album. erry’one gets at least one mulligan. *ahum-coughkingdomcomecough-cough*

    1. I really hope Lupe come with that flame next time. I didn’t like the last two albums he released…. The original Food & Liquor was dope too before they changed the songs. If Lupe keep making albums like this I’m just going to put him on the back burner and move on. I tried to like this album but I just couldn’t get into it. It sound forced but at least he admit he didn’t like the album either instead of saying how every other rapper says “Well this is my best project, I did more songs about my life and it is more personal” then the album come out sounding like everybody else shit.

I can’t write Lupe off yet though. Even Nas had a bullshit album before but it wasn’t this bad though, this is coming from a Nas fan.

Trust me I’m not feeling this song either. Way too soft and generic.

      1. you liked the Leaked/Early version of Food & Liquor more than the Retail/Final version too huh?
I swear, I still dug the retail version, bought a a few copies and gave some away as X-mas presents to some co-workers, but kept the leaked version on my iPod and listened to it every day for like a year straight. that shit was so fire to me.

maybe I should do an article for that. a track-by-track comparison of the leaked vs. retail version.
or maybe YOU should do it P, lol. I got enough on my Fro plate at the moment. but it would be dope.

        1. Haha I love the retail version as well but the original was just different to me and it caught my attention. But I can’t lie I never bought a Lupe CD.

I would love to do a track by track comparison but I don’t have a lot of time to put in it to make it dope enough with the workout, work and then school start back next week. I won’t be on the site as much but I’ll still be checking in from time to time.

      2. Nas has had MANY a bullshit album before. Illmatic, It Was Written, and God’s Son are just about it.

        1. Man c’mon… I Am is a good album and very underrated. Untitled aka Nigger is a good album, and Hip Hop Is Dead was good.

I know I may catch flack out there so let me mention I am a big Nas fan but I think Stillmatic was overrated and wasn’t that good. It only hyped up because of Ether but hey if that is what it take to sell and make your name in the spotlight then by all means… I actually bought Stillmatic the day it came out in 2001 when I was working at a bullshit fast food job, and I was so excited to hear the shit. I end up going to blockbuster music and selling it… I did rebuy the album again in 05 to add with my collection though.

I think It Was Written is Nas best album.

      3. “I really hope Lupe come with that flame next time. I didn’t like the last two albums he released….”

You’re kidding right? The Cool was pure heat. What didn’t you like about The Cool?

          1. The Cool’s beats were more left field than Food & Liqour so it was kind of hard for me to get into at first but I wound up loving it, it kind of dropped in quality at the end though (Go Baby was a terrible way to end the album..) but still better than Lasers

          2. @RJB: yeah, The Cool was kinda a nice mix between FnL & Lasers. for the people that didnt like that tho, I knew theyd hate this Lasers shit. I’m honestly probably one of the only dudes on here that seems to think Lasers wasn’t TOTAL garbage. Sure, it’s Lu’s worst album so far. But I bet if the same exact album had been released under some unknown dude that DIDNT have a “The Cool and FnL”-type legacy on his back, I’d bet people wouldve reacted differently to this shit.

but its whatever. like I said, Lu aint done, hes still young. Hes got pleanty of time to trump Food and Liquor. He just needs to drop this leather pants and denim-cut-off vests phase, cause that is NOT the Lupe I started ridin’ with when FnL leaked, real talk *snicker*

        1. I just couldn’t get into it all the way. I do like that “Tokyo To Japan” song and that beat was dope kinda remind me of some A Tribe Called Quest type of cut with a Roy Ayers sample. I though the whole album would have that kind of sound but nope it did not. I’ll have to listen to it again and see why I really don’t like it. I’ll give y’all an answer on this one later maybe it will grow on me since a few years done passed now and I done hear some wack shit lately *Cough Cough Drake, Soulja Toy, YC*

  3. p-body why you shittin on drake so much lately? i thought marvins room was dope. what issue you got with drake?

    1. I never been a Drake fan. If you was to see my post I wrote about Drake before Thank Me Later album released then you can see my opinion never changed but it has got worse now because these “Marvin Room” songs he keep making. I’m not saying I want to hear somebody getting smacked up and choked all the time but I want to hear him spit since people keep hyping him up. He need more subject matter and he steadily force feeding us this crap man.

        1. You serious? I’ll have to go back and listen to that shit then because I’m not impressed with him right now. The songs he rap on is good like “Thank Me Now” the last song on the album. “Show Me A Good Time” is my shit… I do like “Find Your Love” for some reason… But the album is medicore at best, not the worst I heard but it ain’t all that great to me either. He need to interact with real live people who are not biased so he can see what’s going on and how people really feel. That’s what I admired about artist back in the day they actually interact with the fans unlike people do now except for guys like Raekwon… I actually met Raekwon in 06 dude was cool as hell, we was discussing Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 2 at the time… he told me it would come out later that year which was a damn lie… 3 years late buddy but it was all good I was impressed with the album.
