Friday Night ‘Fro: Super

H20 said it was time to bring the Friday Night ‘Fro back, so it’s back. And since Halloween is right around the corner, why not bring it back with some costume capery?

Sidenote: Okay, “capery” is not a word.

While 2011 saw four big budget superhero movies enter the theaters: X-Men: First Class (Okay), Thor (Okay), Green Lantern (Sucked), & Captain America: The First Avenger (Good) to be honest, the last really good superhero movie I saw was 2010’s Super. Here’s a short synopsis:

After his wife falls under the influence of a drug dealer, an everyday guy transforms himself into Crimson Bolt, a superhero with the best intentions, though he lacks for heroic skills.

At first I thought the film would be a grown up version of Kick-Ass (It kinda is), but after seeing Rainn Wilson (The guy from The Office) knock the shit out of somebody with a pipe wrench, you see Super has it’s own thing going on. Ellen Page (That chick from Juno & Inception) is in this one too as Crimson Bolt’s sidekick and the scenes with them together are some of the best parts of this movie. This is the first film I’ve seen directed by James Gunn, but he did his thing here. Check it out.
