YG‘s debut album, My Krazy Life, lands at the #2 spot and sells 61,000 copies. This is pretty cool for a rapper from Compton Bompton. Whether it’s a timing thing or a testament to his fan base, saying you have the #2 album in the country still looks great on paper. Check out our album review of YG’s My Krazy Life right here.
Big props to Kevin Gates because I’m pretty sure you can download his album By Any Means for free on DatPiff. Still, it sold 15,000 units and grabs the #17 spot. I guess it’s time I give it a listen.
My favorite album on the charts this week belongs to Freddie Gibbs & Madlib‘s Piñata. It didn’t set the charts on fire in terms of sales, but 9,500 isn’t terrible and at least it made the Top 50. Check out our review of Freddie Gibbs & Madlib’s Piñata here.
And since I didn’t acknowledge Eminem‘s The Marshall Mathers LP 2 going Double Platinum last week, I’ll acknowledge that he’s now the second-best-selling male artist of the SoundScan era. Bow down to Slim Shady.
