This weeks R&B Sunday is a throwback to back when groups actually worked on dance steps, dressed alike, and made good songs out of choice….not for some Reality Competition show. The group Riff were first seen big time on Lean On Me singing fair Eastside to Crazy Joe. From there they were seen doing The Apollo and eventually put out an album (that I’ve bought 3 times).
My favorite song by Riff is “My Heart Is Failing Me”. I won’t front and say that it’s the deepest or most beautifully written song ever made, it’s quite the opposite. It’s cheesy and cliche in the worst sense, but it’s still enjoyable. In a strange way I miss the limitations of music back in the day, it was easier to point out who you were listening too. Take a listen, and let me know what you think of the song.
