6. Big K.R.I.T.
Album in 2014: Cadillactica ~ Notable Song: “Mt Olympus”

When you choose a name like “King Remembered In Time” your ambitions are clearly noted. Seeking to make that more than a name, we saw K.R.I.T. release some mixtapes that still echo in the trunks of caddies in the South years after their release. FFWD to 2014, we got a mixtape and another studio album from the soul of the South. “Mt. Olympus” was one of the most epic songs of the year and Cadillactica has some sites labelling it classic, feeling like a homage to Outkast, Magic Mike, UGK, and Southern Hip Hop in general. One thing for sure in 2014, K.R.I.T. is not going to go away quietly and he’s not going to be lapped by folks like Kendrick, Cole, or anyone else coming from the coasts trying to again bury the South. He loves the South as much as he loves his music and his speakers, and as long as he’s around, the South will be in the discussion for sure. – Saule Wright
