R&B Sunday: Curtis Mayfield – “Move On Up”

I need something uplifting and uptempo for today. “Move On Up” from Curtis Mayfield‘s solo debut album in 1970, Curtis is the perfect choice. After leaving The Impressions, whose song “Keep On Pushing” was almost the choice for today, but like I said I needed something uptempo. Mayfield delivered an album full of socially conscious lyrics for his era of civil unrest that was accompanied with soul and funk instrumentation for the parties. Enjoy, there’s a song on this album called, “Miss Black America” that I also want to hear immediately.
