Album Sales: Kendrick Lamar is #1

As a surprise to no one, Kendrick Lamar‘s new album DAMN. grabs the #1 spot on the Billboard 200. The album sold around 600,000 copies in it’s first week and that was enough to have the biggest week for 2017, beating out Drake’s More Life, which sold 505,000 copies in it’s first week (Although More Life was never released physically). This is also K.Dot’s third straight #1 album behind 2016’s Untitled Unmastered. and 2015’s To Pimp a Butterfly. Speaking of Kendrick’s other albums, good kid m.A.A.d. city (#27), To Pimp A Butterfly (#50), & Section.80 (#179) are all now in the Top 200.

In other great news for Kenny, “HUMBLE.” is also the #1 song in the country. This is the first time he’s been on top of the charts as a lead artist (Lets act like that shit with Taylor Swift never happened). The legend of Kung Fu Kenny continues.

Drake‘s album playlist More Life still sold 87,000 units in it’s 5th week and lands at the #3 spot.

Playboi Carti‘s self-titled project dropped last week, sold 28,000, and grabbed the #12 spot on the charts. I have no thoughts on this album because as an old head I’m legally not able to listen to this album.
