The Hate U Give
Release Date: October 19th

There’s a feeling of dread when too much of our entertainment resembles real life. We’ve had Blindspotting, BlackkKlansman, and Monsters and Men released this year to show the relationship between Black people and the police. This is the first one to show from the perspective of a young Black woman after her childhood friend is gunned down and its aftermath. Amandla Stenberg, lightskin and all, is a great choice to lead this film, with her acting skills and activism off-screen.
