R&B Sunday: Dondria – “Making Love” [Video]

I love Bounce music. I love finding new music. Newtral Groundz, THE New Orleans platform, posted a collection of new Bounce artists back in June. Of those four, Treety has seen the most success over the last few month. Managed by Mousa, of The Never Die Corporation (Jet Life!), the 7th Ward native’s “Making Love” has acquired fans outside of New Orleans and a million views of the song’s video.

Today’s R&B Sunday post is to give flowers to the sample used by Blaq N Mild. I thought we were going to be listening to a Beyoncé song, but I was wrong. Dondria was one of the first artists to capitalize off of YouTube covers. In 2006, she created her YouTube channel and was signed to Jermaine Dupri’s So So Def a year later. Her 2010 debut, Dondria vs. Phatfffat was released with the song “Making Love.” Track 4 of her debut album utilizes “I Miss You” by Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes, to list the ways and obstacles she will overcome to be with her love. Use this song as motivation for finding your cuffing buddy, winter is coming. Happy Sunday, Everyone!
