Have you listened to Tha Carter VI yet? Did you love it?
Well it doesn’t matter because I’m going to share the sample from the best song on the album.
Dionne Warwick’s 1973 album features the opening track, “You’re Gonna Need Me.” That song has been used in songs by Usher, Lil B, Fabolous, J Dilla, and more. The great Mannie Fresh chose to take the title track of Ms. Warwick’s 16th album to create #16 on Mr. Carter’s fourteenth solo album. I just knew before I heard the original song that I was going to learn that it was used in the same fashion Kanye produced “Otis” from Otis Redding’s “Try A Little Tenderness.” A great producer knows when to let the sample breathe on its own without adding too much. Smart Move, Mr. Fresh. S/O to the H-D-H team for creating the production.
Enjoy! Have A Great Week!
