Thank you to the nerds on Wikipedia for putting the info that nerds like me are looking for at any movement. “LOVEHAPPY”, the closing track from The Carters’ EVERYTHING IS LOVE, has a familiar sound in the production. Quick glance through the album credits (Remember when you could hold liner notes in your hands to read while listening to a CD?) and I found that Phoenix, Arizona Soul duo Ernie Campbell & Eddie Johnson Jr. released a song in 1965 that would later be sampled by Killer Mike for Pledge 3‘s “Ric Flair”. Rest in Peace to the members of The Phoenix Express and Happy Father’s Day to all the men in the world that make bad days worthwhile.
