The Numbers Game: Akon Is #7

akonnumbersgame121108

What’s up people? It’s Thursday and once again it’s time for another edition of The Numbers Game. Leading the Hip-Hop/R&B debuts this week is Akon with his new album Freedom at #7. Now I’m a be real with you: I haven’t had any urge to listen to this album at all. Not to say it’s bad cause I wouldn’t know; but do we really need a song like “I’m So Paid” in these current times (At least don’t be so damn blatant with the title). But I guess people feel different because over a 100,000 consumers put down their the money for Akon’s third album. Scarface’s potential final album, Emeritus, came in at #25 and moved around 40,000 units. Even though it Mr. Scarface probably deserved better, it could have been worse for the H-Town legend. The motion picture soundtrack for Cadillac Records, which includes some music by Q-Tip, Beyonce, & Mos Def, also debuted this week at #66. I saw this movie a week ago at an advanced screening and was surprised at how good it was; you might want to check out both the soundtrack and the movie. Other than that: Kanye goes Gold and sells over a 100,000 copies of 808’s & Heartbreak in it’s 2nd week. Beyonce’s I Am…Sasha Fierce is still killing the charts and looks like she get a Platinum plaque in a week or so. For any other stats, checkout the number below. BE SURE TO CHECK BACK WITH US TOMORROW AS WE FINALLY LAUNCH THE FORUMS. Peace.
