This looks familiar doesn’t it? Well that’s because we did a list that had the Best Rappers OVER 30. This list has some surprises on there: Lil’ B, Soulja Boy, Waka, and Bow Wow, but it also got it right with J. Cole, Nicki, Drake, and Weezy. It looks like they played it safe and covered all the bases so they didn’t upset anyone. Check out the list and see for yourself.

  11. For y’all saying Cole should be lower because he doesnt have album I don’t see your point. Cole has dropped 3 mixtapes with almost all original production, his latest mixtape only had 2 previously used beats. So his mixtapes are basically albums, same with Wale and K.R.I.T
    Nicki and Drake have only dropped one album that wasn’t anywhere near as good as Cole’s mixtapes (or their own) and you’re saying just because they have albums they should be above him?

    But of course this list doesn’t have any validity anyway, Vibe sucks.

    1. True Bow Wow was in the game a long time from Death Row until now but he don’t write his own music……. Plus he is arrogant. I seen him once at the mall and dude is so stuck up its not even funny.

      Lil Wayne was known more to the people before Bow Wow. I didn’t know who Bow Wow was when he made Bounce With Me and on the Wild Wild West soundtrack

      1. Rappers have had ghost writers almost as long as there has been a rap game. There’s more to rhyming than writing, word to P.Diddy. Bow Wow’s arrogance has NOTHING to do with this list. He’s an Emcee, arrogance is in his fabric and shouldn’t matter. Like I said, I don’t bump Bow’s music, but I still respect his grind and his longevity in the game. He gets disrespected waaaay too often, and this list illustrates that.

        5 out of 6 albums charted gold or plat and his collabo album went gold as well. Not to mention he’s making movies too. 30th in a tie with someone who only has a mixtape is insulting as shit.

          Well what I mean is when the single for came out I didn’t have a idea who he was. I didn’t know he was the same kid on Snoop Doggy Dogg album. I knew more about Lil Wayne then since he was already out mainstream 2 years before Bow Wow first album came out.

          How can you even say the term Emcee when referring to Bow Wow when he don’t write his rhymes? That don’t make sense to me. I respect your opinion very much but I just don’t understand that one.

          Yeah he grind but thats because the kids liked him and girls thought he was cute but now they are older and if he try to make grown up stuff nobody take him seriously since he always did that kiddie type of music anyways. The arrogant part I was referring to when I met him which really made me not like him at all. I never liked Bow Wow music period but meeting him in person you definitely get a different outlook on things. I give him props for being in the game a long time and using his looks for sales (well Jermaine used him).

          Maybe if he wrote his music and calm down a little bit I’ll probably will respect him more but I don’t, and I don’t see that ever changing no matter what.

          1. Well that was a typo, I meant Rapper. I think that you can still be a good rapper without having written your own rhymes. I know that we put a major emphasis on that, and that’s understandable, but since Hip Hop transitioned from being about the DJ, having presence and the ability to control the crowed were the first important things, and WHAT you say was the second. Meaning, there have been ghost writers as long as there have been rappers OR emcees. You’re delivery and what you deliver are more important than if you wrote what you’re delivering.

            I think he’s unfairly maligned because he wasn’t making material for “us”. The same can be said for LL and most any other rapper that has a target audience that isn’t men. I hear you about the arrogance being a personal thing, I can definitely relate to that from some of the folks I’ve met, but I don’t think that should be considered for the list (not saying you were saying that ,but that’s what I thought you were saying at first).

            But I definitely respect your opinion bruh, word to Pac. lol

          2. I cosign with your statement on hip hop for sure. It has transition big time from what it was like. It use to have that rugged look but now its more polished and hollywood like now.

            I just don’t know about this Bow Wow thing. I didn’t take the arrogant thing personal but its just amazing how he act like he is god. I done met Roy Jones Jr (One of my idols back in the day and I took a pic with him), met Evander Holyfield two times, Cee-Lo, DJ Paul & Juicy J, T.I., Juvenile, Bobby V (hes actually a friend of mine seriously he use to come workout with us at my other gym on Roswell RD), Ludacris, Raekwon, and so forth, these people didn’t act funny at all. They was glad that somebody recognized them and they were thankful to be in their position. I just don’t like when people act like they can’t be touched thats all.

            Overall if some of these so called artist wrote their music then I would really have more respect for them even if I don’t like their music. Just a true artist such as a painter, how can I call that person a artist if I’m drawing his work for him but he is the one showcasing it and taking the credit. I can’t give up no respect for real. Maybe I was reaching with that one but I’m kinda funny about stuff like that.

            I even consider Soulja a artist even though his music suck more than a bad blowjob from a chick I’m not feeling. At least he write and produce to whatever he makes. Maybe that is good I kinda backed away from music because I know my opinions would have me in some shit for real because I like to be honest and I expect people to be honest with me, ya know.

            Word to Pac and all the other fallen comrades out there.

  18. I like the top 5 (with a minor argument over 1 & 2), but ranks beyond that gets a little fuzzy. Diggy, Big Sean, Wale, and Wiz should all be lower. I don’t like the tie between Soulja Boy and Lil’ B. Whether you like Soulja Boy or not, he has had a big impact on hip hop. I think he deserves a better rank on this list.

Is that a joke? its so universally accepted to the point where its FACT! Come on, if it was a “Who’s the best at being a sellout” then wayne would be over lupe (Duhh). Another thing, Drake better than….J.Cole? Put any of Drake’s best songs against Cole’s mid tier level songs and they get DESTROYED! Stupid is what stupid does.

  23. this list sucks.firstly how can u tie diggy simmons and bowwow,diggy simmons has only made one mixtape and bowwow already made lots of albums bowwow has always been talking about how people dont give him the respect he deserves, this list just showed they dont respect him.there are many reasons they should respect him :many people cant last ten years in the game secondly he has made lots of movies espeially this year he is making 3 movies.i dont know y he got lots of haters
