Is Mr. Muthafuckin eXquire The New Biggie Smalls?

In the video above, Danny Brown gets interviewed by XXL and speaks on Mr. Muthafuckin eXquire. It’s actually a pretty short video but the main thing to take away from it is that Brown says eXquire is the new Biggie Smalls. Now being that to me The Notorious B.I.G. is one of the greatest MC’s ever (In my Top 2 actually), I was quick to scratch my head and think Danny Brown was back smoking that shit again to make such a grand statement. But then as I thought about it, the statement may not be so crazy.

Nobody even said it, but to me eXquire is the new Biggie Smalls —Biggie before Puffy touched him. Big Brooklyn nigga with bars. The verse from “The Song That Never Ends” is the best verse of the year. Real recognize real. He’s the new Biggie for New York. I see it. – Danny Brown

The obvious thing that’s similar between Mr. Muthafuckin eXquire & B.I.G. is that they both hail from Brooklyn; that’s a given. But Danny Brown did clarify his statement saying he was talking about Biggie “before Puffy touched him”. One thing I’ve always liked about Mr. Muthafuckin eXquire how raw he is. I mean, besides having the same “black nasty motherfucker” like content (He also had a dick sucking skit on his mixtape Lost In Transiton) & the booming voice, I’m thinking eXquire wasn’t exactly aiming for radio exposure with the word motherfucker in his rap name. Most know that Diddy is the one who shined up B.I.G.’s style with Kangol hats & Versace shades. I’m not saying Mr. Muthafuckin eXquire is on the level of Biggie talent wise (that’s stupid), but the similarities are there and maybe Danny Brown is on to something.

  1. i hate comparisons between rappers and other rappers but it makes sense at the same time. Nothing will take away from Danny Brown’s mac miller comment though.

  2. Idk.. To me Biggie isn’t that great as people hype him up to be in the first place.

But this does make me want to start listening to eXquire now.

    1. WTF? Biggie isn’t that great? How old are you?? This is coming from one of the biggest 2Pac fans around. If you are over 25 shame on you for saying that.

      1. I’m 18. He was good, don’t get me wrong. He just wasn’t GREAT to me. Personally, I think NaS was much better.

On the other hand, so far eXquire is pretty nice to me. Especially in these times, where good MCs with flow, content and lyricism are on the decline.

        1. Nas has made two albums of material worth listening in his entire career, where B.I.G. did that and more in his short yet amazing career. Don’t even pretend.

        2. Biggie died when you was around 2-3 so you didn’t get to understand why a lot of us liked Biggie. He was raw and he really brought the east coast back into the lime light. Of course you had Wu Tang and Nas doing it when the West Coast was popping but Biggie really did his thing though. He brought that grimy dark street shit on his albums. Just like with Pac you would have to be around back then to really understand why I liked Pac and his music a lot. I like Nas a lot myself but what Notorious BIG did in his short career was amazing. He was already considered the King Of NY after Ready 2 Die. Shit I remember the Source Magazine had him on the cover with the NY buildings behind him. That shit was classic man. That’s why I said you had to be living in that era to really understand that. But yeah eXquire is dope as fuck and he is building his own lane. He’s one of my favorites right now to be honest.

  3. Big was amazing… eXquire is too… i would venture to say that eX has more depth than big had and he has more versatile flow. He’s going to be great in his own right soon. Mark my words.

  4. I like eXquire a lot dude is a beast on the mic and straight up raw with his shit. I guess I can see the comparisons with him and Biggie… But still that is a little far fetched though especially. Biggie made a serious impact in such a short time and he was definitely one of the illest out there ever. Ain’t nobody in this era really hanging with Biggie besides Jay-Z & Nas

  5. Don’t see it, at all… Why can’t he just be the first Mr. Muthafuckin’ EXquire?? he’s too original for shit like that, even if it’s meant as a compliment.. Anything to gain him more exposure tho

  6. Glad I was in the south during the Pac/Big beef. Loved both and never too sides. Back on topic Big to me was Lebron if he died after taking Cleveland to the NBA Finals. A legend that never got into his prime.

Mr. Muthafuckin eXquire is pure dopeness, but he’s no big
