Tying The Knot: A Guide To Ties

The Lounge Header-The Styles

Repp: The repp tie, or striped ties, are the best bet for the office. Efficient, yet still stylish, they also transition well from the workday to after work, happy hour meet ups.

Club: Club ties are ties with repeating patterns, like logos or crest. Club ties are best when going for a casual or preppy look (i.e., with sweaters or cardigans), but can also add a little youth to your business wardrobe.

Pin Dot: Slimmed down polka dots, these ties are great for a night out.

Solids: I’m not the biggest fan of solid color ties, but if you’re going to rock them, go for darker, deeper color tones, not flashy, lighter colors.

These are the basic and most common styles, and the easiest to pull off until you become comfortable enough to start venturing out into other styles. For example, my favorite tie in my collection is a lavender and violet paisley repp tie.
