A Band Called Death

The tagline for this movie is “Before there was punk, there was Death”. And that almost perfectly sums it all up. The documentary tells the story of three African American brothers out of Detroit in the 1970’s who started a band called Death that played punk music years before The Ramones & Sex Pistols. This is cool for me to see because I always question how Black people kinda got separated from a music genre that basically created: Rock music. The film also tells a good story about family and redemption.
Notable Scene: Hearing the story about Death playing loud ass Rock music in the middle of the hood. The neighbors hated it but the women still came around.
Should you see it?: Yes. Even if you’re not into Rock music.
