Director Nicolas Winding Refn & Ryan Gosling hook back up again for Only God Forgives. Actually, Only God Forgives could be looked at as the spiritual successor to their last film together Drive. Both feature an emotionless and barely verbal Ryan Gosling. I say that Only God Forgives looks better than Drive as it was shot in Bangkok and that backdrop provides some stunning visuals. Only God Forgives (Which rolls off the tongue way better than Rick Ross’ God Forgives, I Don’t) is also violent as hell, which I loved. Asian gangster shit with swords and hookers. What’s not to like?
Notable Scene: Almost any scene with Kristin Scott Thomas is worthy. She plays the mother of Ryan Gosling, Crystal. Not only is she a powerful, glamorous, mobster mother, she also does weird shit like talk about the size of her sons’ dicks. It’s messed up but you can’t take you eyes off of it.
Should you see it?: If you fucked with Drive, yes. If you like your main characters to talk a lot, no.
