Jean Paul Valley/Azrael
Jean Paul Valley was once apart of a religious cult. He was “created” by them, genetically engineered to be the perfect assassin and perfect soldier. Jean Paul would eventually face the Batman and attempt to kill him. Although Batman would ultimately succeed, he saw the potential in Jean Paul and would assist him with getting free of the mental manipulation that the cult had placed upon him.
Jean Paul would go on to earn Batman’s trust. So much so that after Bane broke his back, Batman would ask Jean Paul to take the mantle of Batman temporarily. Unfortunately, Jean Paul had not completely overcome his demons and would go on a murder spree as Batman, until Nightwing would later take him down. Jean Paul has worked with the Bat Family on and off since then while attempting to recover from this brainwashing.
