R.I.P. Whitney Houston. Today’s R&B Sunday is to highlight the work of director Melina Matsoukas. The New York born and raised woman behind the camera has her directorial debut Queen & Slim in theaters right now. I’ve been seeing a lot of fans giving credit to Lena Waithe only so I wanted to show my appreciation to the other woman behind the hit film.
Ms. Melina has been directing music videos for 13 years (Beyoncé, Rihanna, Solange, etc) and has also been directing television for the last two years with Insecure and Master of None. We’re looking back 10 years ago at one of the legendary queen’s last videos. “Million Dollar Bill” was written by Alicia Keys, produced by Swizz Beatz and was unfortunately, the best grand finale for the voice of a generation.
