Notable Tracks: JID, Boldy James, Fabolous, & Jim Jones

No theme this time for this Notable Tracks post, just literally songs I wish I just wrote about and should have given dedicated posts to. You know the routine. Whatever, let’s get into it.

JID – “2007”

Besides JID messing with my OCD on if his name is spelled JID or J.I.D (It is one way on his YouTube and another way on his Instagram), I have always been a fan. He dropped a new track titled “2007” last week, and it’s an epic listen that basically tells the origin story of the Atlanta rapper. Supposedly, “2007” was going to be the outro on JID’s upcoming third studio album, The Forever Story, but could not be included due to problems with sample clearance, which is a damn shame. This is another reason why I usually don’t stream music and continue to download my songs like a caveman.

NICHOLAS CRAVEN & BOLDY JAMES – “POWER NAP”

Montreal producer Nicholas Craven and Detroit rapper Boldy James reconnect for another win with a new song titled “Power Nap.” I probably have already admitted that I was sleeping on Boldy, but ever since I heard “Nu Wave” a couple of years ago, I have been tapped in. And this song has that same vibe. As a bonus, check out the alternative remix of “Power Nap” by Beezy here.

FABOLOUS FEAT. JIM JONES – “RICH HUSTLE”

Fabolous pops out with a Hitmaka-produced song featuring Jim Jones, a music video, and the song is only available on YouTube with “Rich Hustle.” (As of this writing, the Linkfire link in the video description doesn’t even work It’s fixed, I guess) All that aside, this is just your old-school laidback flossy track for two NY rap vets, and I’m all for it. Also, am I the only one still amazed by the improvement of Jim Jones? Salute to Capo.
