It’s another Numbers Game and once again I’m happy to see some new Hip-Hop debuts on the charts. Since I reviewed Padded Room last week, I guess we’ll start there. While some may think having an album debut at #42 is not a good look, I think it’s a great thing for Budden (Especially since he’s on an indie label). It’s much higher than I thought since Halfway House only sold around 3,000 when it debuted last year. Sad to hear that Amalgam Digital, his label, might be folding though.
Next up is K’naan’s Troubador and also does pretty well. The Somalia born rapper’s album debuts at #32 and pushes around 15,000 copies. I think it was the great endorsement of Saule Wright’s review. But maybe I’m a little bias.
Now for the “we didn’t review that album” category. I honestly did not think Project Pat’s album Real Recognize Real actually came out. But I guess almost 9,000 people was more up on things than me because for an album that didn’t have much press, it ddn’t do that bad (P-Body did tell me that the album wasn’t that great). Cypress Hill member B-Real’s solo debut album Smoke N’ Mirrors barely made the Top 150 and pushed around 4,000 copies. Shot out to Infamous F who asked us to review the album, uh, sorry we couldn’t do it homie (But you see not many people cared though).
I think that’s all I’m covering this week. Oh yeah, did you see that Rihanna’s album Good Girl Gone Bad is on it’s 91st week? Damn. I don’t even have a Chris Brown/Rihanna joke for that.
Peace.
