The Numbers Game: The-Dream & Dwele

This week’s charts are basically the same as last week as we see albums from Eminem & Drake hold on to the top spot. Em is still going with Recovery selling 300,000+ in his second week (Damn!). No notable Hip-Hop/Rap debuts in this edition but we do have two from R&B artists.

The-Dream‘s new (and maybe final) album Love King moves over 50,000 albums at the register and grabs the #4 spot on the charts. I’m not a huge fan of The-Dream but I got a chance ti listen to the Love King and there are a few songs that I liked. I think it’s more for the ladies though.

Dwele also released his album last week. W.ants W.orld W.omen grabs the #28 spot and sells 13,000+. I also got a chance to listen to this album and it had it goods point but overall didn’t really grab me like Dwele’s past works; he still a talented artist.

Next week we’ll see how new albums from Big Boi & Juvenile on the charts. Reportedly, Big Boi’s Sir Luscious Left Foot: Son Of Chico Dusty is on pace for 55,000+.

  1. AGREED on Dwele. It’s cool, but that’s about it.

Eminem is KILLING it right now, damn! I haven’t gave that Dream shit a spin, but the quick preview I did, sounds like his other shit, don’t know if that’s good or bad. I’m shocked The Roots cd is doing so poorly. I mean, they don’t usually do big numbers, but I thought the Late Night joint would really push them over, guess not.

Usher gets married, drops one of his best albums, does nothing. Usher gets a divorce, drops a wack album, he’s about to go plat. smh

    1. hasnt Late Night has been on repeats now goin’ on 2 weeks?
so they arent getting that nightly push, maybe thats a factor

I was lookin’ forward to that new Dwele, but yall got me thinking I shoudlnt bother now

    2. I dunno, I don’t think too many people that watch Late Night would go looking for the Roots album, which is a shame, cos IMO that’s the best of 2010 so far.
Still, for a group that doesn’t get that much mainstream exposure and doesn’t conform to pop-shit *cough*Eminem*cough* 72K in 2 weeks is pretty bangin’.

  2. Lmao, I have a review on Love King (Ok really fucking long review. Pause) on my site if anyone wants to peep that. The-Dream said that he’s gonna drop another album, Love Affair on 2011, says it in the song Sex Intelligent (Remix)

I’m dissapointed though, only 50k? I know The-Dream is a noticed artist, and he has one of the worst curses ever, the fact that he makes hits for others that sell more than him yet can’t make his own hits, just the album.

    1. This is like my fourth or fifth comment on this site in a couple of hours (I should really go outside or some shit), I can’t speak for everyone but I know the reason I keep buying Em’s cds no matter how bad is because while he may not be hittin’ on shit right now, back in the day he really got me through some shit.

I grew up poor, mom’s died when I was young, dad wasn’t and still ain’t shit, so I basically raised myself and by the time I hit bout 15 I was fucking pissed off at everything, and despised any kind of authority. I was steady bumpin anything even remotely aggressive back then (DMX, Lil Jon and the Eastside Boys, JadaKiss, etc.), but nobody really encompassed how I felt until Eminem came out.

Here was this dude that basically felt just the way I did, the whole fuck my mom (for me my old man), fuck authority, and to anybody that something to say, fuck them too. I ate that shit up and copped the SSLP, MMLP, and The Eminem Show the first week they came out.

Anyway, the point of my babbling is this, even though he fell off, myself and apparently a lot of other are still very loyal to Em, for this and probably alot of other reasons, so as long as he keeps making shit we’re gonna keep buying it.
