It wasn’t a surprise to anyone that Watch The Throne topped the charts this week (Especially when news broke that it had broken iTunes single-week sales record). Jay-Z & Kanye West‘s album sold 436,100 in it’s first week. While there’s a lot of controversy about how good Watch The Throne actually is, everybody can agree that it’s release may be the blueprint on future album releases (No early leaks, pop-up store, etc.). Ace Hood released his third album last week with Blood, Sweat & Tears. Not only did Ace make it in the Top 10 for first time in his career, he also had his best first-week sales with 26,000 albums sold. Every since seeing his interview with The Breakfast Club, I’ve been rooting for Ace. This shows he’s gaining more fans and hopefully won’t get another eviction note on his door anytime soon. Jay & Yeezy weren’t the only Hip-Hop duo to release an album last week. Gucci Mane & Waka Flocka Flame‘s Ferrari Boyz album lands at #21 and sells 16,800 units in it’s first week. While the album got overshadowed this week on the charts, I’m sure it’s #1 in a lot of Southern hoods. [Check out our review of Gucci Mane & Waka Flocka Flame’s Ferrari Boyz here]
Royce Da 5’9″ released 5th solo album Success Is Certain. The album sold 15,900 copies & grabbed the #25 spot. You gotta hand it to Royce, he has two albums currently in the Top 25 and will probably go on to sign to Shady Records as a solo artists now that he’s done with his obligations with Gracie Productions.
