The Numbers Game: Justin Timberlake’s The 20/20 Experience Almost Sold A Million Copies

Timberlake

Yes, Justin Timberlake‘s first album since 2006, The 20/20 Experience, sold 968,000 copies in its first week and debuts at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart.

Now to be honest, JT isn’t a stranger of selling a lot of records in the first week; ‘N Sync’s album No Strings Attached sold 2.42 million in it’s first week in 2000 (I don’t think that shit will never happen again). But as a solo artist, 968,000 is the most Timberlake has sold ever in the first with his prior albums FutureSex/LoveSounds selling 684,000 in 2006 and Justified selling 439,000 in 2002. This is also the 19th-largest week for an album since SoundScan started tracking data in 1991.

Speaking of FutureSex/LoveSounds, that album jumped back in the Top 200 and now sits at #37. All in all, a monster week for Justin Timberlake.

Next week we’ll see how Lil’ Wayne‘s I Am Not A Human Being II does in terms of sales (We reviewed that album too).
