The Numbers Game: Chrisette Michele Is #1 & Ciara Is #3

thenumbersgame

This week we have no big Hip-Hop debuts but R&B did capture some high spots on the charts this week. Also, I’m sorry I’m using the “default” image for The Numbers Game for the second week in a row…shit, it’s late. Okay, let’s get to it.

The pleasant surprise this week goes out to Chrisette Michele. Her 2nd album, Epiphany, gained the top spot on the charts this week and sold over 80,000 units. No disrespect to Ms. Michele but I didn’t honestly think  she would move that much on this album (I prefer her first album though). Congrats are still in order.

Coming in at #3 is Ciara with her 3rd album Fantasy Ride. You remember when Ci Ci was suppose to give Beyonce a run for her money? Yea; not anymore. 81,000 in sales is good but not I Am Sasha Fierce good. I listened to new album and it was okay (None made it to the iPod though). Hey, at least you did better than New Jack City II. That’s something right?

I noticed Asher Roth‘s Sleeping In The Bread Aisle dropped almost 30 spots. Damn. King Jerm called it (Side note: King Jerm doesn’t particularly like Asher).

I got a few e-mails about the Skull Gang review and the lack of it. The Skull Gang album was a glorified mixtape with 1 song added (“I Am The Club”). We don’t review mixtapes (Okay, very very rarely) and I thought it would be a waste of time for me to review a retail mixtape just to give it 2 stars or less (I have been passing out the low stars a little lately). But what do I know? 4,000 people went out and bought it anyway. Shout out to Francisco!

And last but not least is H20’s favorite album of 2009, DJ Paul‘s Scale-A-Ton. No, seriously, I was surprised that the Three 6 member made the top 200. I can’t speak on the quality because I didn’t give a honest listen before I deleted it off my iTunes. Just being real.
